Viola Moon contributes to the success of Pepsi’s “New Moon, New Face” competition.

As part of its sponsorship of the release of New Moon, part two of The Twilight Saga, Pepsi Italia organized the “New Moon, New Face” competition, inviting web users to submit a photo of themselves looking as much as possible like one of the film’s stars. Over 500 photos were received. The prize on offer was a private screening of Eclipse, the third instalment of the saga.

It was Freedata’s job to promote the competition on social media sites. The face of the campaign was Viola Moon, an imaginary official spokesperson for the competition, who appeared on Facebook, Netlog, and numerous other social networking sites and forums. She shared information and stirred up excitement. And despite being openly virtual, she attracted the attention of a large number of web users, becoming a go-to person with a reputation for providing clear, honest and complete information.
